When users add files to a page using a WebDAV client (for example, Web Folders, Cadaver, or Dreamweaver), items are created for those files. Oracle9iAS Portal uses the default WebDAV item types chosen for the page to determine what item type to use for those items.
For example, you may want to create Zip File items for any zip files added to a page using a WebDAV client, so that users can then unzip the contents of those zip files. Alternatively, if you want users to only be able to download zip files (rather than extract their contents into the portal), you might choose Simple File as the default WebDAV item type for zip files. Or, if the other items in your page use specific custom item types, you might want to make sure that items created using WebDAV clients also use those custom item types.
To complete this task, you must have at least Manage privileges on the page.
Go to the page on which you want to work.
Switch to Edit mode.
In the page toolbar at the top of the page, click Properties.
Note: Make sure you click the link for the Page, not the Page Group.
Tip: You can also click Properties next to the page in the Navigator.
Click the Optional tab.
In the Default Regular Files list, choose the item type to use for regular files (for example, documents) uploaded to the page via WebDAV clients.
In the Default Zip Files list, choose the item type to use for zip files uploaded to the page via WebDAV clients.
In the Default Image Files list, choose the item type to use for image files (for example, gif and jpg files) uploaded to the page via WebDAV clients.
Click OK to return to the page.
The default WebDAV item types lists include only file-based item types (that is, Simple File, Simple Image, File, Image, Zip File, and custom item types based on the Simple File or Simple Image item types), and only those file-based item types that are available in the page group that owns the page.
For subpages, choose Inherit from Parent Page if you want to use the same default WebDAV item types as the page's parent page. For the root page, choose Use Default to allow Oracle9iAS Portal to choose a suitable default item type. For example, if you choose Use Default for regular files, Portal will use the File item type.
If the page is based on a page template, any files added to that page via WebDAV will use the Default Regular Items item type, even if the file is an image or zip file.
