Choosing default item types for files uploaded via WebDAV

When users add files to a page using a WebDAV client (for example, Web Folders, Cadaver, or Dreamweaver), items are created for those files. Oracle9iAS Portal uses the default WebDAV item types chosen for the page to determine what item type to use for those items.

For example, you may want to create Zip File items for any zip files added to a page using a WebDAV client, so that users can then unzip the contents of those zip files. Alternatively, if you want users to only be able to download zip files (rather than extract their contents into the portal), you might choose Simple File as the default WebDAV item type for zip files. Or, if the other items in your page use specific custom item types, you might want to make sure that items created using WebDAV clients also use those custom item types.

To complete this task, you must have at least Manage privileges on the page.

To choose default WebDAV item types:

  1. Go to the page on which you want to work.

  2. Switch to Edit mode.

  3. In the page toolbar at the top of the page, click Properties.

Note: Make sure you click the link for the Page, not the Page Group.

Tip: You can also click Properties next to the page in the Navigator.

  4. Click the Optional tab.

  5. In the Default Regular Files list, choose the item type to use for regular files (for example, documents) uploaded to the page via WebDAV clients.

  6. In the Default Zip Files list, choose the item type to use for zip files uploaded to the page via WebDAV clients.

  7. In the Default Image Files list, choose the item type to use for image files (for example, gif and jpg files) uploaded to the page via WebDAV clients.

  8. Click OK to return to the page.
