After you build a database portlet, you can use options in the Oracle Portal Navigator to edit it. You can edit the most recent version of the database portlet or an archived version. Each time you or another developer edits and saves a database portlet, the previous version of the database portlet becomes an archived version.
You edit database portlets using a collection of tabbed pages in a dialog box. Each tabbed page corresponds to a step in the wizard that created the database portlet. Entry fields on each tabbed page contain the values that were specified during creation of the database portlet, or by the user who last edited the database portlet and saves the changes.
database portlets are locked while you edit them, preventing other users from making changes to the database portlet. The database portlet remains locked until you click OK in the Edit dialog box.
To
edit a database portlet, you must have Edit or higher access
privileges on the database portlet or the provider that owns it.
To edit the most recent version of a database portlet:
On the Oracle Portal Home page, click
on the shortcut bar.
Click the providers tab in the Oracle Portal Navigator.
The Name column of the Navigator displays the names of all providers in which you have privileges to edit database portlets.
Click the name of the provider that contains the database portlet you want to edit.
Scroll to the database portlet you want to edit. In the Action column next to the database portlet, click Edit.
Note: Clicking Edit opens the Edit tabbed dialog for the most recent database portlet version. You can also edit an archived version of the database portlet.
Click one or more tabs to edit the values in the entry fields on the
corresponding tab page. To access help about the entry fields on a
page, click the small button.
When you finish editing entry field values on all tab pages, click OK.
The new version of the database portlet displays as a production version in the Version(s) Status field of the Manage database portlet page. The version of the database portlet you opened to edit now displays as an archived version.
(Optional) If you decide you don't want to save your edits, click Cancel.
To edit an archived version of a database portlet:
In the Name column, click the database portlet you want to edit. The Manage database portlet page displays.
Click one of the archived versions in the Versions(s) Status field on this page.
Follow steps 6-8 above to edit the archived version of the database portlet.
Note
As you switch from tab page to tab page, Oracle Portal keeps track of any changes you make in the tabbed pages. Click Finish only after you've made changes on all the tab pages you want to make.
