A

Los jóvenes voluntarios representan la gran mayoría de los voluntarios de la CR/MLR. La acción y el compromiso de los jóvenes fortalecen su papel como actores clave en el presente y el futuro del Movimiento, dando respuesta a la vez a las necesidades de los más vulnerables.

El CCM está desarrollando el partenariado de forma constante y fomentando el encuentro entre culturas y distintas identidades entre los jóvenes del Mediterráneo, trabajando sobre el diálogo intercultural y el flujo constante de ideas entre ellos. La fortaleza de la juventud reside en su extraordinaria capacidad de multiplicación y de influencia en sus semejantes y sus comunidades mediante comportamientos y actitudes positivos, divulgando en todo momento los Principios de la CR/MLR.

The CCM and the Croatian Red Cross organized the 12th edition of Youth Camp Atlantis. Starting from the experience of previous editions, in 2016 the aim was to provide a follow up on the priorities highlighted during the 12th Mediterranean Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, particularly concerning the issue of Crisis response and Preparedness.

The Camp focused on the increasingly essential role that Youth also have in times of crises. The contribution of Youth is understood in two ways, on the one hand as a proof of implication in the actions tackling crisis response, and on the other hand as witnesses and examples of commitment for a positive change towards a culture of dialogue and peace.

Mediterranean RC/RC Youth Training on Migration: "Youth on the Run"

The CCM and the Regional Committee of Sicily of the Italian Red Cross organized in Sicily (October 4th -11th) the Mediterranean RC/RC Youth Training on Migration ¿Youth on the Run¿. The aims were, through a role-play game, to reinforce the commitment and the competencies of youth, to work on changing a culture of intolerance into a culture of acceptance and inclusion and to impulse the young volunteers to take up a leadership role in positively influencing their local communities.

ATLANTIS XI: 'Youth Volunteering: Challenges and Opportunities to Make a Change'

The Portuguese Red Cross and the CCM organised the 11th edition of the Youth Camp Atlantis. The Camp focused on the development of different skills of Youth Volunteers based on their voluntary work, in order to improve the positive impact of their action on communities. The Camp gathered the Youth from Mediterranean RC/RC Societies under the motto 'Youth Volunteering: Challenges and Opportunities to make a change'. During 8 days a number of workshops were developed. Participants also had the opportunity to share their experience and best practices, reinforcing partnership between National Societies.

 

Bridging the gap toward intergenerational dialogue: Volunteering as a vector of social cohesion

The CCM and the Spanish Red Cross organized in Madrid a seminar under the title `bridging the gap towards intergenerational dialogue: Volunteering as a vector of social cohesion¿, focusing on the role that the volunteering promotion can play to bring generations closer together. While delivering volunteer service, both young and elder people can benefit from mutual contact and feel part of the solution to the current and complex crises situations rather than a burden to society, promoting mutual understanding in a relationship based on personal growth and knowledge exchange. ITC¿s (Information and Communication technology) can also play a significant role as it stands as a relevant tool in the contact between generations.

Youth Promoting a culture of non-violence and peace

The CCM and the Spanish Red Cross organize in Palma de Mallorca a one-week workshop dedicated to the promotion of a culture of non-violence and peace. Addressed in particularly to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Youth volunteers, the workshop reinforce the skills and build the capacities youth volunteers in those areas related to the promotion of a culture of non-violence and peace.

Humanitarian Consequences of Forced Migrations

The CCM and the Italian Red Cross with the support of the IFRC North Africa regional Office, organize in Rome a seminar on Humanitarian Consequences of Forced Migration to share information, experiences and practical tools among those Red Cross and Red Crescent youth volunteers and technical staff involved in migration programs.

Seminar on Leadership for Youth Coordinators

The CCM and the Palestine Red Crescent Society organize a workshop for Youth coordinators. Youth leaders from Mediterranean NNSS attend the workshop to strengthen their ability to work in groups and teach them how to motivate other volunteers within their community. Furthermore, through the multicultural approach the youth leaders will enhance their cultural understanding, tolerance, and communication skills, all resulting in becoming better leaders.
