HIV is transmitted through of the following body fluids: blood, semen, vaginal secretions and breast milk.

HIV is not transmitted by kiss or fondle, nor in the daily coexistence at home, work, toilets, offices, restaurants or schools, or by sharing eating utensils, glasses o las sports or leisure facilities, or through animals.

The time period between HIV transmission and AIDS development varies widely. That's why we say that all people living with AIDS have HIV, but not all people with HIV live with AIDS.

Thanks to advances in treatments it is possible to live with HIV without reaching the stage of illness (AIDS), without being therefore this virus causing a fatal disease.
